Mount Ainos is the highest mountain on the Greek island of Kefalonia, rising to 1,628 meters above sea level. The peak and its slopes are the centerpiece of Ainos National Park, known for its high-altitude fir forests.
Hikers and nature visitors go for the network of trails that climb through forests of Greek fir and open rocky ridges, and for summit views that can include the Ionian Sea on clear days. Trails vary from short day hikes to longer ridge routes, and the summit area contains communication masts and a marked path to the high point.
The massif is a natural feature rather than a man-made site; its high-elevation forests and karst terrain have long been recognized locally and protected under the national park designation. Over time the area has been managed for conservation and low-impact recreation.
