Moukalaba-Doudou National Park

Moukalaba-Doudou National Park is a protected area in Nyanga Province in southern Gabon, notable for a mix of coastal and inland habitats and high biodiversity. The park includes sections of Atlantic coastline alongside interior forest and savanna.

It contains a mosaic of rainforest, savanna and coastal wetlands that support large mammals, primates and diverse birdlife, and the coastal zones include lagoons and mangroves. The park is valued for both terrestrial and marine biodiversity and is used for conservation and research.

The area was designated to protect these habitats and to integrate former hunting and reserve lands into Gabon’s protected-area network. Management focuses on conserving species and landscapes across the coastal-inland gradient.

The park sits in southern Gabon in Nyanga Province and stretches to the Atlantic coast; the nearest regional towns are located some distance away and access into the park is over remote roads or by boat.
