Main image

Morne Diablotin National Park is Dominica’s largest protected area, established to conserve the island’s highest mountain and surrounding rainforest. The park protects extensive montane forest and watershed on the island’s interior.

The park centres on Morne Diablotin, which rises to 1,447 metres and supports cloud forest habitat and populations of the endemic sisserou parrot. Trails and forested valleys within the park offer opportunities for guided hikes and wildlife observation.

Created to safeguard native forest, watersheds and wildlife, the area was set aside to protect biodiversity and remaining intact habitat on the island. Conservation management focuses on species protection and watershed integrity.

The park is inland in northern Dominica, occupying rugged interior terrain north of the main coastal settlements and east of the island’s western shoreline.

  • Wildlife: Important stronghold for the endemic sisserou parrot and other native forest species, making it a focus of conservation on Dominica.
  • Highest point: Contains the island's highest point at 1,447 metres, with steep forested slopes and watershed areas.
