Moody Gardens
Park Galveston attraction with aquariums, pyramids, and exhibits
On Galveston Island, Moody Gardens combines pyramid aquariums, a rainforest exhibit and IMAX/interactive attractions; families visit for marine displays and educational exhibits.
Moody Gardens is a large educational tourist complex and resort located on Galveston Island, Texas. It is organised around three large glass pyramids that house major themed exhibits.
The complex’s three pyramids contain an aquarium, a rainforest habitat and an interactive discovery centre; each pyramid is a multi-level exhibit space. Beyond the pyramids, the site includes additional attractions, a hotel, convention facilities and outdoor landscaped areas used for events and recreation.
Developed as a tourist and educational attraction, Moody Gardens expanded over time to add exhibition spaces, accommodation and event facilities to serve both leisure and conference visitors. It has become a major visitor destination on Galveston Island.
Moody Gardens sits at the western end of Galveston Island, accessible from Galveston city and from the Houston metropolitan area by road.
- Location relative to Houston: Located on Galveston Island at the western end of the island's Seawall and roughly 50 miles (about 80 kilometres) southeast of Houston by road.
- Signature attractions: The site is organised around three large glass pyramids - aquarium, rainforest and discovery - which are the complex's signature attractions.
