Monza Park

Monza Park (Parco di Monza) is a large enclosed park in the city of Monza in Lombardy, northern Italy. It is one of the biggest urban parks in Europe and includes significant cultural and sporting facilities.

The park covers a very large area of woodland, formal gardens and lawns used for walking, cycling and picnics; its area is roughly 688 hectares. Within the park the Villa Reale and the historic Autodromo Nazionale Monza are the principal attractions people visit for architecture and motor sport respectively.

The park grew around the Royal Villa and associated estates and has been shaped over the 19th and 20th centuries to include formal gardens and recreational spaces. The motor-racing circuit was built inside the park in the 20th century and has been a long-standing venue for major racing events.

The park sits in Monza, immediately north of Milan, and is readily accessed from Monza town centre; Milan is about 15 kilometres to the south.

• Parkland and gardens: Extensive wooded and landscaped green space covering the bulk of the park; includes formal gardens, tree-lined avenues and open lawns used for recreation and events.
