Montreal Urban Community

The Montreal Urban Community was a metropolitan-level regional government entity covering the Island of Montreal and nearby municipalities in Quebec, Canada.

This was an administrative organization rather than a visitor site; its functions were civic and institutional, coordinating services across multiple municipal jurisdictions on the island.

Formed in 1970 to provide metropolitan coordination, the community administered regionwide services for several decades before being dissolved during the municipal reorganizations of the early 2000s and replaced by successor regional arrangements.

Its jurisdiction encompassed the Island of Montreal in the province of Quebec and adjacent small islands in the Saint Lawrence River.
