Montreal Lake (Saskatchewan)

Montreal Lake is a freshwater lake in central-northern Saskatchewan, Canada, situated in the boreal forest of the Canadian Shield. It is associated with the nearby Montreal Lake First Nation and a small provincial park on its shore.

The shoreline includes a provincial day-use area with a beach and a boat launch; local communities provide the principal access points for recreational boating, picnicking and shoreline activities. The lake is typical of mid-size boreal Saskatchewan lakes with mixed forest and wetlands around the shore.

The basin was formed by glacial processes and the lakes and rivers of the region have long been used by Cree peoples; the contemporary community on the lake is directly connected to the Montreal Lake First Nation. Settlement and recreational infrastructure developed in the 20th century as road access improved.

The lake sits in the central boreal zone of Saskatchewan approximately 120 km north of Prince Albert, surrounded by mixed spruce and jack pine forest and wetlands.
