How to Get to Monte d'Oro #
Vizzavona is the usual base: regular TER trains run between Ajaccio and Bastia and stop at Vizzavona station. From the Col de Vizzavona parking and picnic area several waymarked trails lead toward the summit-allow a full day for the return. Local guesthouses in Vizzavona and nearby Corte provide simple staging points.
Tips for Visiting Monte d'Oro #
- Start early from the Col de Vizzavona side to avoid afternoon heat and to catch the dramatic light on the scarp face.
- The trail can be exposed-there are some steep scrambles near the summit; good footwear and a steady head are essential.
- Public transport to Vizzavona is the simplest approach: trains serve Vizzavona station, from which the ascent trails fan out.
