About Musée Fesch#
An art museum in Ajaccio, Corsica, founded on the bequest of Cardinal Joseph Fesch and housed in the Palais Fesch. The collection is notable for its holdings of Italian Renaissance and Baroque painting.
The collection originated with Cardinal Joseph Fesch, a 19th-century collector and uncle of Napoleon Bonaparte, who assembled a large group of Italian and European paintings. The Palais Fesch was adapted to display his collection and the museum has operated since the 19th century as Ajaccio’s principal fine art institution.
Located in central Ajaccio near the town’s port and historic centre on the west coast of Corsica, the museum occupies the Palais Fesch complex.
