Mont Fort

Mont Fort is a prominent summit in the Valais canton of southwestern Switzerland and a focal point in the high-altitude ski domain of the 4 Valleys. It is a popular destination for winter sports and high-mountain sightseeing.

The mountain is integrated into a lift network that brings visitors to high-elevation terrain where they can ski on glaciers and high alpine runs, and it is widely used by intermediate and advanced skiers. The summit area and adjacent snowfields are frequented for summer ski touring and panoramic viewpoints.

The area developed into a major alpine ski destination during the 20th century as lift infrastructure expanded across the 4 Valleys network, linking resorts and enabling year-round high-mountain access. That development transformed local alpine access from pastoral and alpine pasture use to organized winter sports and tourism.

Mont Fort sits above the resort areas around Verbier in the Valais Alps, offering direct access from the valley ski stations and commanding views across neighboring peaks and glaciers.
