Mirusha Stream

Mirusha is a river canyon and series of waterfalls and pools in Kosovo formed by the Mirusha River. The site is noted for its stepped cascades and natural pools carved into limestone bedrock.

Trails and footpaths provide access to viewpoints above the falls and to lower pools; the area is used for short hikes, photography and local recreation. The canyon has been shaped by fluvial erosion over long periods and presents layered limestone cliffs and plunge pools.

The feature lies within the District of Prizren in southwest Kosovo and occupies a narrow river valley surrounded by karst terrain.

• Seasonal flows: Best visited in late spring and early summer when river flow is higher and the cascades are most active.

What to See#

• Mirusha Waterfalls and canyon: A carved limestone canyon containing stepped cascades and interlinked pools formed by the Mirusha River, with footpaths and viewpoints along the river corridor.

Located near Klina in the District of Peja/Prizren region; accessible by regional roads from Pejë/Peć or Prizren with parking near the main trailheads.

• Approach early in the morning to avoid crowds at the main viewpoints and to catch soft light on the cascades.
• Wear footwear with good grip - some paths to lookout points can be slippery after rain.
• Combine the main waterfall circuit with short cultural walks to nearby villages to hear local stories about the gorge.
