Main image

Milad Tower is a telecommunications and observation tower in northwestern Tehran, Iran. It rises to a height of about 435 metres and is the tallest structure in the city.

The tower’s visible feature is a multi-floor pod that contains viewing platforms, dining and exhibition spaces; the structure serves both broadcast functions and public tourism. Visitors use high-speed elevators to reach panoramic views over Tehran and the surrounding Alborz foothills, and there is a revolving restaurant and conference facilities in the complex.

Construction began in the late 1990s and the tower was completed in the 2000s as part of a larger plan for telecommunications and city convention facilities. Over time the site has been developed to host exhibitions, concerts and tourism services in addition to its original broadcast role.

The tower sits on the northwest side of Tehran within Tehran Province, forming a prominent landmark on the city skyline and adjacent to motorway links and urban districts.

  • Access: Tickets are required for the public viewing areas and restaurant; queues can be longest at sunset and on weekends.
  • Visibility: The tower dominates Tehran's northwest skyline and can be seen from many parts of the city on clear days.

How to Get to Milad Tower #

Milad Tower is on the northwestern side of Tehran and is most easily reached by car or taxi using the city’s major arterial roads (for example the Hemmat and Chamran expressways in that part of the city). Driving from central Tehran is typically a short to moderate trip depending on traffic (roughly tens of minutes); local surface transport and taxis can drop visitors at the tower entrance.

Tips for Visiting Milad Tower #

  • Plan a late-afternoon visit so you can watch the city at sunset and see Tehran's lights come on from the observation deck or restaurants - this time typically offers the best panoramic views.
  • Avoid Fridays and public holidays (the busiest local leisure days) and consider a weekday visit to reduce crowds and shorter entry queues for the observation deck and restaurants.
  • Buy observation-deck or restaurant tickets in advance when possible and allow extra time for peak-hour traffic and security checks at the tower complex.

For comfortable conditions and clearer views, visit Milad Tower in spring or early autumn and avoid peak weekend hours if you prefer fewer crowds.

Pleasant temperatures and clearer air make the observation decks comfortable and views better; weekdays are less crowded.
Summer (hotter)
June-August · 25-35°C
Hotter conditions; indoor observation and restaurant areas remain open but expect more local visitors, especially evenings and weekends.
