How to Get to Metsovo#
Metsovo is a mountainous town best reached from Ioannina (IOA) or Thessaloniki (SKG) by road. KTEL regional buses and car transfers are the usual ways to access the town - rail options are not direct.
Ioannina National Airport (IOA): Ioannina is the closest airport to Metsovo. From Ioannina airport you can take a taxi or a KTEL regional coach to Metsovo; driving time is about 45-75 minutes depending on route and conditions. Expect taxi fares in the region of €50-€90 for the trip; KTEL coaches are cheaper (typical fares around €6-€15).
Thessaloniki Airport (SKG): Thessaloniki is a larger hub with more flight options. From SKG you can travel by KTEL coach or rent a car and drive to Metsovo; travel time by road is about 2.25-3 hours depending on traffic and route. Bus/train combinations and private transfers are available with prices varying by operator.
Train: There is no direct rail service into Metsovo; the nearest rail connections are in larger cities such as Ioannina and Kozani. From those hubs you continue by KTEL regional bus or taxi to reach the mountain town.
Bus (KTEL): KTEL regional buses serve Metsovo from Ioannina, Thessaloniki and other regional centres. Buses are the standard public-transport option, reliable for scheduled routes and far cheaper than taxis; journey times vary by origin (about 45-75 minutes from Ioannina, 2-3 hours from Thessaloniki). Buy tickets at the KTEL station or locally.

Use Ioannina (IOA) for the shortest airport transfer, or Thessaloniki (SKG) for more flight options, then continue by KTEL bus or private transfer to Metsovo. A rental car is advisable for exploring the wider mountain area.
