Meise Botanic Garden is the national botanic garden of Belgium located at the Bouchout estate in Meise, to the north-west of Brussels. The garden combines extensive outdoor collections, historic parkland and large greenhouses that house tropical and subtropical plants.

• Collections: The living collections and herbarium support scientific research; the site contains large outdoor collections as well as heated greenhouses for tropical species.

• Bouchout Castle: Bouchout Castle sits at the heart of the estate and is surrounded by formal gardens and parkland that form the public botanical displays.
• Greenhouses: Extensive greenhouse complexes that house tropical and subtropical collections alongside seasonal displays of rare plants.

Meise Botanic Garden (BOM) lies to the north of Brussels in Meise. By car it is about 15-25 km from central Brussels and typically a 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic; follow the main roads north out of the city and follow signs for Meise/Botanic Garden where onsite parking is available.

There are regional public-transport options (train to a nearby station and local bus or taxi for the last kilometre or two); check current regional bus timetables for exact connections.

• Include the greenhouses (conservatories) early in your visit - their tropical and subtropical collections are separate from the outdoor beds and are often overlooked by visitors who stick to the outdoor trails.
• Visit in spring or early summer when seasonal bulbs, magnolias and the rose collections are at their best; these peak displays are much quieter on weekday mornings.
• Pick up a site map at the entrance and plan a route to cover the historic arboretum and the glasshouses separately; the garden is large and visitors who wander aimlessly often miss the specialized collections tucked away from the main lawns.
