How to Get to Mei Foo
Mei Foo (Sham Shui Po District) is served directly by Hong Kong's excellent public transport: the MTR interchange station (Mei Foo Station) and numerous bus routes make access fast from the airport and across the city. For most visitors the MTR combined with a short walk is the simplest choice.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG): The main international airport serving Mei Foo. The Airport Express runs to Kowloon Station (one‑way adult fare HK$115) in about 24 minutes; from Kowloon Station take the MTR (one transfer) to Mei Foo with an additional MTR fare of roughly HK$5-10 and total door‑to‑door time around 30-50 minutes. Taxis from HKG to Mei Foo take about 25-35 minutes and cost around HK$300-350 depending on traffic. Shek Kong / regional helipads: Not used for typical travel to Mei Foo; HKG is the practical air gateway for nearly all visitors.
MTR: Mei Foo is served directly by Mei Foo Station on the Tsuen Wan Line and the Tuen Ma Line (Mei Foo Station interchange). Typical MTR fares within urban Kowloon are HK$4-12 depending on distance; travel times are short and trains are frequent. Bus / Minibus: Several KMB and Citybus routes and local minibuses serve Mei Foo and the surrounding Sham Shui Po / Lai Chi Kok areas; fares are generally HK$4-12 for single‑route hops and travel times depend on traffic.
How to Get Around Mei Foo #
Mei Foo is well served by public transit and is easy to get around without a car. Mei Foo MTR station is an interchange on the urban rail network (Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines), and numerous buses and minibuses serve the neighbourhood. Taxis are readily available as well. The area is largely walkable within the estate and nearby shopping streets; use the MTR for quick trips across Hong Kong and check peak hours for crowded trains. Bring an Octopus card for convenient payment on most services.
