Mason Neck, Virginia

Mason Neck is a forested peninsula on the Potomac River in Fairfax County, Virginia, containing state and federal protected lands and historic sites. The area is notable for its riverine habitats and historical estates.

Outdoor recreation is focused on wildlife observation, hiking and shoreline views; protected areas on the neck preserve tidal marshes, mature hardwoods and nesting habitat for raptors. The historic Gunston Hall plantation house is open to the public as a museum on the peninsula.
