How to Get to Masherbrum #

Masherbrum is in the Karakoram of Gilgit-Baltistan and is accessed only after travel into the Baltistan highlands. Fly or drive to Skardu (the regional hub), then drive on rough mountain roads toward the village/trekking gateway of Askole or Hushe-the road end villages that serve as starts for multi‑day treks into the Masherbrum/Hispar region. From the roadheads you must trek for several days to reach basecamp; hire local guides and porters and plan for remote, high‑altitude trail travel.

  • Access to Masherbrum is typically staged from Skardu with the trekhead approached via the Hushe Valley; factor in several days of overland travel and local transport logistics.
  • If you're trekking in the area, start early in the day from valley settlements to make the most of predictable morning weather and to avoid afternoon storms common in high terrain.
