The Marx-Engels Forum is a small public square in the Mitte district of Berlin that features prominent bronze statues of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. It was created as a civic space and political memorial in the era of the German Democratic Republic.

A compact landscaped area dominated by large bronze sculptures of the two philosophers mounted on a plinth, with pathways and low walls used by passersby. The figures are the focal point for photography and for understanding how public art was used in East Berlin.

The Forum was established in the 20th century by city authorities in what was then East Berlin as a deliberate ideological memorial. The site and sculptures have remained a recognizable remnant of the GDR period and are now part of Berlin’s broader urban history.

Marx-Engels-Forum is in central Berlin (Mitte) beside the River Spree near Rathausstraße/Klosterstraße and the Nikolaiviertel. The nearest rapid transit stops are Märkisches Museum (U-Bahn U2) and Hackescher Markt (S-/regional trains); both are an easy 5-10 minute walk to the forum.

You can also reach the site by bus or tram to central Mitte stops and then walk across the river; driving routes use main central streets (e.g., Alexanderstraße/Rathausstraße) with limited nearby parking.
