How to Get to Marugame, Kagawa

Marugame is easiest reached via Takamatsu Airport (TAK) or by rail through JR Marugame Station on the JR Yosan Line. For long-distance international arrivals many visitors use Kansai International Airport (KIX) or Okayama and continue by train to Takamatsu/Marugame.

By Air

Takamatsu Airport (TAK): Takamatsu Airport is the nearest airport for Marugame. There is a direct airport bus (limousine) from Takamatsu Airport to Takamatsu Station; the journey takes about 25-30 minutes and the bus fare is roughly ¥720. From Takamatsu Station you can take the JR Yosan Line to Marugame Station (see train card).

Kansai International Airport (KIX): Kansai International is the largest international gateway used by many visitors to Shikoku. Expect a total door-to-door journey of roughly 2.5-3.5 hours to Marugame by rail (airport train to Shin-Osaka, Shinkansen to Okayama, then local/JR services via Takamatsu) and a total one-way cost in the several-thousand-yen range (typically several thousand yen depending on connections and whether you use non-reserved or reserved Shinkansen seats).

By Train & Bus

Train: Marugame is served by Marugame Station on the JR Yosan Line (JR Shikoku). Frequent local and rapid services connect Marugame with Takamatsu (to the east) in roughly 20-30 minutes; trains also connect via Takamatsu to the Marine Liner from Okayama. Use Marugame Station for most regional travel and check JR Shikoku timetables for rapid/local service differences.

Bus: Local bus services and community buses operate within Marugame and to nearby towns; these are useful for reaching suburbs, temples, and attractions away from the railway.
