Marotiri is a very small group of uninhabited volcanic islets and sea stacks in the southern Pacific Ocean, associated with the Austral Islands of French Polynesia. The islets are rocky, isolated and have no permanent human settlement.
The formation is of volcanic origin and provides nesting and resting habitat for marine birds and other oceanic wildlife. There are no visitor facilities and access is limited by distance and sea conditions.
Marotiri lies well offshore within French Polynesia and is one of the most remote outcrops in the Austral archipelago, located southeast of the inhabited islands of the group.
