Marcianopolis is the name of an ancient Roman- and Byzantine-period city whose archaeological remains lie in what is today Varna Province in northeastern Bulgaria. It was an important regional urban center during late antiquity.
Remains at the site include city structures and traces of public buildings and fortifications typical of Roman provincial towns, reflecting its role in regional administration and trade in antiquity. The site is studied by archaeologists interested in Roman and early Byzantine urbanism.
