Mandalgovi (Mandalgovi / Mandalgovi Sum) is reached mainly by road from Ulaanbaatar; scheduled commercial flights are not generally available to the town. Expect multi-hour bus or private-vehicle journeys over variable roads.

By Air

Ulaanbaatar Chinggis Khaan International Airport (UBN): International travellers normally fly into Ulaanbaatar (UBN). From Ulaanbaatar you can take a domestic flight to smaller regional airports if available or continue by road to Mandalgovi. Domestic flight options are limited-most travellers use ground transport for the last leg.

Local airfields / charters: Mandalgovi does not have frequent scheduled commercial flights; private charters or government flights can land at regional airstrips. For most visitors, road travel from Ulaanbaatar is the standard approach.

By Train & Bus

Bus / Minibus: The usual public option from Ulaanbaatar to Mandalgovi is by long-distance bus or shared minibus (microlet) departing from city minibus stations. Journey time by road is typically several hours (commonly 4-6+ hours depending on vehicle and road conditions) and fares are modest-book at the departure point in Ulaanbaatar.
