How to Get to Manakhah
Manakhah is a remote mountain town in Sanaa Governorate. Because of Yemen's ongoing security situation and disrupted transport services, travel options are limited and changeable; do not travel without current official advice and local arrangements.
Sana’a International Airport (SAH): Sanaa is the main airport serving Sanaa Governorate; however, civilian flights and operations in Yemen are heavily disrupted and subject to security constraints. Where flights operate, transfers from the airport to mountain towns such as Manakhah are by road and can take several hours depending on conditions - travel should only be attempted with up-to-date security advice and local guidance.
Other airports / routes: Due to the security situation in Yemen, many international travellers reach northern Yemen via neighbouring countries and then proceed by overland routes; this is complex and subject to travel advisories and restrictions.
Train: Yemen has no national passenger rail network relevant to Manakhah.
Bus / shared taxi: The usual internal option in normal times is long-distance coach or shared taxi from Sanaa toward Saada/Amran and mountain towns, with onward local taxis or minibuses to Manakhah. Given ongoing conflict and rapidly changing security, consult authoritative travel advisories and local contacts before planning any ground travel.
How to Get Around Manakhah #
Manakhah is a mountain town in the Sana’a region where walking serves the compact centre well. Road access is possible by bus or shared taxi from Sana’a and other towns, but journeys are on steep, winding roads and can take time.
If you’re arranging transport, expect simple minibuses and shared taxis rather than frequent coach services; hiring a private car with an experienced driver can be more reliable. Dress warmly at altitude and allow extra travel time for mountain roads.
