Rabat Travel Guide
City Capital city of Malta with ancient sites
Rabat sits beside Mdina with streets that lead to St Paul’s Catacombs, parish churches, and quiet bakeries; pilgrims and history buffs drop in for Roman remains and simple pastizzi eaten on stone steps.
Why Visit Rabat? #
Close to Mdina, Rabat pairs archaeological significance with everyday Maltese life: think St. Paul’s Catacombs, the Domvs Romana museum and narrow lanes lined with cafes. Street-level bakeries sell traditional pastizzi and confectionery, and local festas punctuate the year with music and processions. Markets and small galleries round out the cultural offerings. It’s an easy place to feel the island’s layered history without the crowds of Valletta.
