Makedonium is a 20th-century monument and memorial complex on a hill above the town of Kruševo in North Macedonia. It was built to commemorate the Ilinden Uprising of 1903 and later events in Macedonian history and serves as a museum and symbolic site.

The complex combines sculptural forms and exhibition spaces intended to memorialize revolutionaries and the town’s role in national history. It attracts visitors interested in 20th-century memorial architecture and the history of the Ilinden Uprising.

Situated above Kruševo, the monument overlooks the town and surrounding mountain landscape in the western part of North Macedonia’s mountainous interior.

Kruševo is about 60 km south of Skopje by road. From Skopje, take the A2/E65 south toward Prilep and then follow regional roads to Kruševo (approx. 1.5-2 hours by car). From Kruševo town center the Makedonium sits on a nearby hill - a short 10-20 minute drive or a 30-45 minute walk uphill along marked paths. Local taxis and minibuses (marshrutkas) serve the route during the warmer months.

• Visit early morning for soft light on the concrete ribs and to avoid the bus tours that arrive late morning.
• Walk the short path above Kruševo for panoramic views - the monument's concrete shapes read best against open sky.
• Look for the faded handprints and cigarette burn marks on lower plinths - small human traces left by Yugoslav-era pilgrims and veterans.
• Bring a translator app or a phrasebook; the volunteer guide at the memorial speaks Macedonian and sometimes Bulgarian.
