Madonie Regional Natural Park protects the Madonie mountain range in northern Sicily and preserves a mosaic of Mediterranean and montane landscapes. The range includes limestone plateaus, deep valleys and traditional hill towns.

Key attractions include the park’s high peaks, most notably Pizzo Carbonara, and extensive networks of mountain trails and rural roads used for hiking and nature observation. The area supports diverse plant communities including endemic species and chestnut and beech woodlands at higher elevations.

The park also includes a number of historic towns and villages where visitors can find services and cultural sites, with medieval centers and local food traditions. Conservation management combines habitat protection with recreation and the maintenance of traditional rural land uses.

Geographically the Madonie sit on Sicily’s northern interior, between Palermo and the Nebrodi Mountains, forming part of the island’s central-northern highlands. Access is typically from regional roads that connect the mountain towns with Palermo and other coastal cities.
