How to Get to Lushan National Park #
By rail/road: Mount Lushan (Lushan National Park) is best reached via the nearby city of Jiujiang or by rail from Nanchang. Take a train to Jiujiang (or Nanchang) and then a local bus or taxi to the Lushan scenic area; the park is roughly 20-30 km from Jiujiang and a 30-40 minute drive from the city. Once at the park entrances, attractions are reached on foot or by the park shuttle/local buses.
Tips for Visiting Lushan National Park #
- Aim for spring (April-May) or autumn for the clearest mountain views and to avoid the peak summer heat and haze; avoid Chinese public holidays (Golden Week, National Day) when visitor numbers spike.
- Use the park's early cable-car services or start hikes before 8:00 to beat the large daytime tour groups and secure quieter viewpoints on trails such as those around Guling.
- Allow time to stay overnight in nearby Guling (Kuling) village - many visitors miss the pre-dawn sea of clouds and quieter evening atmosphere once day-trippers have left.
