Lushan National Park

Lushan National Park (Mount Lu) is a mountain park in northern Jiangxi province, China, recognised as a cultural landscape combining dramatic granite peaks, waterfalls and forested slopes with a long history of cultural use.

Visitors encounter steep cliffs, wooded ridges, waterfalls and scenic viewpoints across the massif, together with temples, academies and historic villas that reflect centuries of religious and scholarly activity. The area has served as a summer resort and centre for cultural retreat.

The mountain has been celebrated in Chinese literature and pilgrimage for many centuries and developed a range of religious and cultural institutions; it later became a popular resort in modern times. The ensemble of natural scenery and cultural sites underpins the park’s significance.
