Luossavaara rises above Kiruna in Swedish Lapland; its slopes host hiking and a small ski area, with views back over Kiruna and surrounding tundra.
Luossavaara is a prominent hill immediately west of the town of Kiruna in northern Sweden. It is used locally for recreation including walking and downhill skiing.
The hill has been associated with local iron ore extraction historically; small-scale mining activity and related infrastructure were present during the development of Kiruna as a mining town. Over time the site has been repurposed for recreation.
Sits on the western edge of Kiruna in Norrbotten County, northern Sweden, forming a visible landmark on the town skyline.

How to Get to Luossavaara #
Luossavaara is a short drive or bike ride from central Kiruna. Local signs and tracks make it accessible for day visits; in winter check for groomed trail information and lift opening times.

- Take the lift to Luossavaara's ski and hiking area in summer for a short ascent and panoramic views of Kiruna and the Arctic landscape.
- Check opening times for the visitor facilities and downhill trails if visiting in winter - they are seasonal.
- Respect former mining areas: some access is restricted for safety and conservation reasons.
