How to Get to Lower Barrakka Gardens #
The Lower Barrakka Gardens are in Valletta, Malta’s compact city centre above the Grand Harbour. They are a short walk (about 5-10 minutes) from Valletta’s City Gate/central Republic Street and from the Valletta bus terminus; follow pedestrian streets and the harbourside promenades down toward the Grand Harbour to reach the gardens.

- Head to Lower Barrakka Gardens for quieter Grand Harbour views - it's much less busy than the Upper Barrakka but still offers sweeping vistas across the harbour and the Three Cities.
- Time your visit for early morning or just before sunset for the best light on the harbour fortifications and to avoid the cruise-ship and coach crowds that swarm Valletta during the middle of the day.
- The gardens are a short, mostly downhill walk from Valletta's central streets and provide benches and shade for relaxed viewing; use the lower-level paths for different vantage points of the harbour and waterfront fortifications.
