Louis Armstrong Park (New Orleans)

Louis Armstrong Park is a public park in the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans, adjacent to the French Quarter and downtown. It is named for the jazz musician Louis Armstrong and incorporates historic sites associated with African American music.

The park’s principal attraction is Congo Square, an open plaza that served from at least the 18th century as a gathering place for enslaved and free Afro-descended people to play music, dance, and trade on Sundays.
