Los Angeles State Historic Park is an urban state park in Los Angeles, California, located immediately north of Downtown Los Angeles and adjacent to Chinatown on land that was formerly used for railyard operations. The site provides public open space within the central city.
Visitors use the park for walking, picnics, informal recreation and community events on open lawns and landscaped pathways. The park functions as a green space and event site amid a dense urban environment.
The site was formerly occupied by railroad yards and later acquired for conversion to public parkland by the State of California; it has since been developed to provide urban open space and interpretive displays about the area’s industrial and transportation past.
The park sits between Chinatown and the Arts District, immediately north of central Los Angeles and within walking distance of downtown neighborhoods and transit connections.
