How to Get to Lone Pine
Lone Pine is best accessed by car from regional airports such as MMH (seasonal) or FAT (Fresno). Regional buses (ESTA) and shuttle services can link Lone Pine with nearby towns, but a rental car gives the most flexibility to reach trailheads and scenic drives.
Mammoth Yosemite Airport (MMH): MMH is the nearest small commercial airport for the Eastern Sierra region (seasonal service) and sits roughly 1-1.5 hours from Lone Pine depending on routing and road conditions; rental cars are usually needed for onward travel.
Fresno Yosemite International (FAT): Fresno is a larger option with more year-round flights (about 2.5-3 hours’ drive to Lone Pine). Driving into Lone Pine is typical from either airport-expect scenic but sometimes narrow mountain roads and variable weather in winter.
Train: There is no Amtrak service directly serving Lone Pine. The nearest Amtrak stops are a considerable distance away and are not a practical option for most visitors.
