Lochranza Castle is a medieval ruined tower house standing on a rocky promontory at the north end of the village of Lochranza on the Isle of Arran.
The ruin is a short walk from the village pier and is visible from the harbour and nearby shoreline, making it a frequent photo subject for visitors arriving by ferry.
The site has medieval origins and the surviving structure includes a rectangular tower house with later alterations; the castle passed among regional clans and estate owners over several centuries.
It is located at the head of Lochranza bay on the northern coast of the Isle of Arran, immediately adjacent to the village and close to the island’s northern ferry terminal.

How to Get to Lochranza Castle #
Ferries run to Brodick on Arran from Ardrossan; from Brodick drive north on the A841 along the coastal road to Lochranza (about 40-50 minutes). The castle is reached on foot from the Lochranza village car park.

- The castle is a ruin-wear sturdy shoes for the uneven paths and watch for slippery stones near the shore.
- The Arran ferry port at Brodick is the most common arrival point; take the coastal road north to Lochranza for the best approach.
- Look for seals on the nearby rocks at low tide-bring binoculars.
