Loch Ossian

Loch Ossian is a remote freshwater loch on the eastern side of Rannoch Moor in the central Highlands of Scotland. The loch is set in an expanse of moor and hills and is used as a base for hillwalking and wild camping.

A small staffed hostel on the loch’s shore provides accommodation and basic services for walkers, and a handful of estate tracks and footpaths connect the loch to surrounding routes. The loch is prized for its solitude and access to the open moorland rather than for built attractions.

The loch sits within estate land historically used for sporting and grazing; modern use emphasises outdoor recreation and low-impact visitor facilities like the hostel. Corrour station and long-distance routes provide the principal public access points.

Located on Rannoch Moor in the West Highlands, the loch lies in a remote moorland setting with the nearest rail access at Corrour and road access from minor estate tracks.
