How to Get to Little Tobago #
Little Tobago (Bird of Paradise Island) lies off the northeastern coast of Tobago and is reached only by boat. Boats and organised day‑trip operators run from the nearby villages on Tobago’s northeast coast (notably Speyside); trips are typically short boat rides and often include snorkeling and bird‑watching stops.
To get to Speyside you can drive or take local transport from Tobago’s main centres (Scarborough or the airport) and then join a boat operator in Speyside for the crossing; there is no road access to the island itself.
Tips for Visiting Little Tobago #
- Aim for early morning boat trips from Tobago (Speyside/Charlotteville) for the calmest seas and the best chance to see seabirds while avoiding the midday heat.
- Book a guided boat or snorkel tour rather than attempting an independent landing-Little Tobago is a protected bird and marine area and local operators run the permitted visits.
- Combine your visit with snorkelling: the reef around Little Tobago is one of the island's highlights and many day trips include stops for snorkeling and viewing seabird colonies from a short landing or viewing platform.
