Lincoln Park is a public park at the northwest edge of San Francisco bordering the coast, notable for its bluff-top views and cultural facilities. The park contains the Palace of the Legion of Honor museum and a municipal 18-hole golf course.
Visitors come for panoramic views over the Golden Gate, the Marin Headlands and the Pacific Ocean from cliff-top walkways, and to visit the Legion of Honor’s European art collection. The public 18-hole golf course occupies much of the park and is a visible recreational feature.
The site was developed as a public park in the early 20th century and the Palace of the Legion of Honor was opened in the 1920s as a memorial and art museum. The park has since combined cultural, recreational and scenic uses.
Lincoln Park sits at the northwest tip of San Francisco adjacent to the Lands End area and the Presidio, a few miles from downtown San Francisco and easily reached from the city’s west side.
