Levuka Travel Guide
City Historic town in Fiji with colonial architecture
On Ovalau’s jagged coast, Levuka keeps 19th-century wooden shops and colonial mansions; sailors and divers come for coral reefs, ramshackle markets and the town’s carnival-like annual celebrations.
Why Visit Levuka? #
Levuka’s charm comes from its role as Fiji’s first colonial capital and its preserved 19th‑century wooden architecture, which earned the town UNESCO recognition. Maritime history is everywhere-from the old port to small museums-and traditional Fijian culture remains visible in kava ceremonies and island crafts. Wanderable streets and nearby snorkeling coves make it an appealing, historic alternative to Fiji’s larger resort centers.
