Why Visit Levuka? #

Levuka’s charm comes from its role as Fiji’s first colonial capital and its preserved 19th‑century wooden architecture, which earned the town UNESCO recognition. Maritime history is everywhere-from the old port to small museums-and traditional Fijian culture remains visible in kava ceremonies and island crafts. Wanderable streets and nearby snorkeling coves make it an appealing, historic alternative to Fiji’s larger resort centers.

Levuka sits on Ovalau island and is reached from Fiji's main islands by domestic flight or by sea from Suva. Services to small island destinations can be limited and subject to weather and seasonal schedules.

Ferry / Boat: Regular ferry and passenger-boat services connect Suva (Viti Levu) with Ovalau (Levuka) on scheduled days; crossings vary by operator and can take several hours. There are also private launches and water taxis; plan around published ferry timetables and seasonal changes.
