Lessinia

Lessinia is a limestone plateau region in the Veneto region of northern Italy, located north of the city of Verona. The area is recognised for its karst landscapes, upland pastures and rural villages and is protected in a regional nature park.

Hiking trails and country roads cross the plateau, linking small villages and viewpoints that overlook the Po plain and the Venetian pre-Alps. The landscape includes pastures, intermittent woodland and typical karst features such as dolines and cliffs, and the area is used for traditional pastoralism and seasonal grazing.

Human use of the plateau has been predominantly agricultural and pastoral for centuries, with settlement patterns shaped by transhumance and small-scale farming. More recently the region has been managed for nature conservation and rural recreation through the regional park framework.

Lessinia sits to the north of Verona in Veneto, forming part of the southern foothills of the Alps and rising above the lowland plain toward the Venetian pre-Alps.
