León Cathedral is a Gothic cathedral in the city of León, Castile and León, Spain, and serves as the city’s principal medieval church. It is especially renowned for its extensive medieval stained glass and Gothic architecture.

The interior highlights include a high Gothic nave and an exceptional array of stained-glass windows that fill the choir and transepts; many of these windows date to the 13th and 14th centuries. The cathedral’s verticality and fenestration are a major reason visitors come for photography and architectural study.

Construction of the present Gothic cathedral began in the 13th century on the site of earlier Romanesque structures; work and additions continued through the later Middle Ages.
