Lenin Peak

Lenin Peak (Pik Lenin) is a major summit of the Pamir-Alay region on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, rising to 7,134 metres. It is well known in the mountaineering community for having a relatively accessible normal route compared with other 7,000-metre peaks, leading to frequent guided expeditions.

The standard approach uses established base camps and glacier approaches from the northern (Kyrgyz) side, and the peak is often climbed as part of acclimatisation schedules for higher objectives. Despite a technically moderate normal route, objective hazards such as crevasses and storms can be significant.

The mountain became a major mountaineering destination in the Soviet period and continues to attract international teams for guided ascents and training climbs. Facilities near common approaches are basic and most climbs require multi-day glacier travel.

Lenin Peak sits in the Trans-Alay/Alay range on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border and is accessed from high valleys that feed into the Pamir-Alay complex.
