Main image

The Lechkhumi Range is a mountain range located within the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region of Georgia. It forms part of the hilly and mountainous terrain of northwestern-central Georgia and contains forested slopes and pastoral highlands.

The area offers hiking terrain, small rural villages and mountain pastures rather than developed tourist infrastructure. Trails and local roads link scattered settlements and agricultural land across the range.

Peoples of the surrounding valleys have used the range traditionally for grazing and local transport routes; the landscape remains largely rural with small-scale farming and forestry. The range is part of Georgia’s diverse mountainous geography and contributes to regional watersheds.

Geographically the Lechkhumi Range sits in the western foothills of the Greater Caucasus system within Georgia’s Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti administrative region, inland from the Black Sea coast and set among river valleys and highland communities.
