Schloss Laufen is a castle complex perched on the cliff immediately above the Rhine Falls in northeastern Switzerland. It functions today as a visitor facility and viewing point for one of Europe’s largest waterfalls by discharge.
From the castle terraces and adjacent platforms visitors can see the Rhine Falls and the steep rocky gorge below; the falls are about 23 m high and reach roughly 150 m across at high flow.
