Lampi Island Marine National Park is a protected marine area in Myanmar’s Tanintharyi Region that includes Lampi Island and surrounding reefs in the Mergui Archipelago. It conserves island, mangrove and coral-reef habitats in the Andaman Sea.

The park is noted for its offshore islands, clear waters and reef systems used for snorkeling and diving, and it encompasses both terrestrial and marine ecosystems. The area is remote and visited mainly by boat-based excursions and dive trips.

The reserve was designated to conserve the ecological values of the Mergui Archipelago, including mangrove forests and coral reef communities, and to regulate activities such as fishing and tourism in the zone. Management is under national and regional authorities.

Geographically the park lies off Myanmar’s southern coast in the Andaman Sea, within the Mergui Archipelago southwest of the Tanintharyi mainland and generally accessed from the port town of Myeik (Mergui).

  • Access: Access to the park is typically by boat from the coastal town of Myeik (Mergui); organized trips and liveaboard vessels operate in the archipelago for snorkeling and diving.
  • Conservation focus: The park protects a mix of coastal mangroves, island forest and offshore coral reefs that support marine biodiversity and resident seabird populations.

What to See #

  • Lampi Island: The principal island around which the park is organized; features lowland forest, mangroves and coastal habitats that are core to the park's conservation value.
  • Surrounding reefs: Scattered coral reefs and smaller islets inside the park that provide snorkeling and diving habitat and support diverse marine life.
