How to Get to Lambayeque, Peru
Lambayeque is a short drive from Chiclayo's airport (CIX) and is well served by regional buses and combis from Chiclayo and Trujillo. There is no regular passenger rail; road travel is the practical option for most visitors.
Capitán FAP José A. Quiñones Gonzales International Airport (Chiclayo - CIX): Chiclayo’s airport (CIX) is the main air gateway for the Lambayeque region and is very close to the city of Lambayeque (about 10-15 km). From the airport take a taxi to Lambayeque city (roughly 20-30 minutes; fares commonly S/15-30) or a local colectivo/bus from Chiclayo toward Lambayeque for a few soles.
Trujillo / Piura regional airports: Trujillo (TRU) is farther south and Piura (PIU) is farther north - both are alternatives if you combine a longer overland transfer with flight options.
Train: There is no active passenger rail service linking Lambayeque; rail freight exists but not regular passenger operations.
Bus: Frequent minibuses (combis) and intercity buses connect Lambayeque with Chiclayo, Trujillo and other regional centres. From Chiclayo terminal to Lambayeque city buses or colectivos take about 20-30 minutes and cost low single-digit soles (S/1-3 for local combis). Longer coach trips to Trujillo or Piura are available from regional terminals with journey times of 2-4 hours depending on destination.
