Lakhta Center
Building Russia's tallest skyscraper and Saint Petersburg landmark
On the Gulf of Finland’s edge in northwestern St. Petersburg, the Lakhta Center-home to Gazprom-rises as Europe’s tallest skyscraper; visitors note its tapered glass façade, riverside promenade, and occasional exhibitions in its cultural spaces.
The Lakhta Center is a contemporary high-rise complex on the northern shore of Saint Petersburg, Russia, anchored by a 462-metre office tower. It is the tallest building in Russia and Europe and was completed in 2018.
The tower is a very tall, tapering glass structure visible across the Gulf of Finland and from many points in northern Saint Petersburg. The development includes lower-rise office and conference buildings and landscaped public spaces that form a multi-building campus.
Construction began in the 2010s and the tower was topped out and completed in 2018 as part of a large redevelopment project led by the building’s developer for corporate headquarters use.
The complex stands in the Lakhta area on the northern (Gulf of Finland) shore of Saint Petersburg, northwest of the historic city centre.
