Lake Volvi is a large lake in Central Macedonia, northern Greece, situated northeast of Thessaloniki. The lake forms part of a regional wetland network and supports local fishing and birdlife.
Shallow waters and reedbeds along parts of the shoreline provide habitat for waterfowl and other wetland species. The lake is accessed by local roads and small settlements on its shores use it for irrigation and fisheries.
Lake Volvi is a natural basin whose ecology and shoreline have been shaped by human use over many decades. It is one of the principal lakes in the Central Macedonia region.
Geographically the lake lies inland from the northern Aegean coast within the plains and low hills of Central Macedonia.
