Lake Tuusula (Tuusulanjärvi) is a small lake in Uusimaa, southern Finland, notable for the cluster of Finnish artist homes and cultural sites on its shores. The lake lies near the towns of Tuusula and Järvenpää and has strong cultural and literary associations.

The shoreline contains several preserved homes and museums connected to prominent Finnish cultural figures, including the composer Jean Sibelius and painter Pekka Halonen, making the lake a focused cultural tourism destination rather than a large natural wilderness area. Walking routes and short boat trips are common ways to visit the lakeside museums.

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries the lake’s shores became a centre for an artists’ and writers’ community; several houses from that period have been conserved as museums and cultural sites. The area is managed for heritage interpretation and local recreation.

Geographically the lake sits roughly 20-30 kilometres north of central Helsinki in the Uusimaa region, adjacent to the towns of Tuusula and Järvenpää and easily reachable by road from the Helsinki area.

  • artists' colony: a well-known cultural landscape where late 19th and early 20th century Finnish artists and writers established homes and studios along the shore.
