Lake Timiskaming
Lake Long Ontario-Quebec lake straddling provincial border
Straddling Ontario’s borderlands, Timiskaming offers long water for boating and fishing, lakeside towns like Haileybury and Temiskaming Shores, and autumn colour drives.
Lake Timiskaming is a long freshwater lake in the Ottawa River valley that lies along the Ontario-Quebec boundary in eastern Canada. The lake forms a major valley body of water that extends along the interprovincial border.
The lake is used for boating, fishing and shoreline recreation; towns and settlements on its shores provide marinas and access points. Its elongated shape follows a glacially carved valley and it is a regional transportation and recreation corridor.
The lake developed as part of post-glacial river and valley formation processes and later became an important inland route and settlement focus during regional development. It continues to support fisheries, recreation and local communities on both provincial sides.
Geographically it straddles the border between Ontario and Quebec in the Ottawa River valley; the city of Temiskaming Shores and other lakeside towns serve as principal access points on the Ontario shore.
- cross-provincial waterway: forms part of the Ottawa River valley and straddles the Ontario-Quebec boundary, making it a long cross-provincial waterway used for boating and fishing.

- Temiskaming Shores: the city of Temiskaming Shores sits on the lake's Ontario shore and contains the communities of Haileybury and New Liskeard, which serve as the lake's main access and service hubs.
