Longer-distance access: KTEL intercity buses connect Thessaloniki with Kastoria (several services daily). By car from Thessaloniki it is roughly a 240 km drive (about 2.5-3 hours) generally following the Egnatia Odos (A2) and regional roads into Kastoria.

• Plan for sunrise or sunset along the town-side promenade in Kastoria (the main urban shore) to catch reflections and the best light for photos.
• Use the town's lakeside access points-walking the waterfront and the old-town peninsulas gives the most immediate views; avoid the height of summer (July-August) when heat and tourist numbers are highest.
• If you want quieter lakeshore time, visit on weekday mornings outside school holidays when local promenades and cafés are less busy.
