Lake Lokve (Lokvarsko jezero) is a reservoir in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in western Croatia, near the village of Lokve in the Gorski Kotar highland region. It was formed by a dam on a local stream and lies amid forested hills.
The lake and its shoreline attract anglers and hikers; the surrounding mixed forests and karst terrain provide short trails and picnic spots rather than large developed beaches. Water-based activities are typically small scale and oriented to local visitors.
The reservoir was created by constructing a dam on the Lokvarka stream to supply water and regulate flow for the valley; since its construction it has been used for water supply, flood control and recreation. The dam and lake altered the local riverine landscape to produce the present impounded water body.
Geographically the lake sits in the inland Gorski Kotar area of western Croatia, a hilly, forested zone between the coast and interior. It is located close to the village of Lokve and is accessible from regional roads linking to the Rijeka area.
